At Blackdog Surfing School, a family owned and operated surf school in Byron Bay with nearly 25 years’ experience to our name, we provide a range of lessons and packages aimed at newcomers to the wonderful world of surfing, delighting at the opportunity to pass on our experience to those who choose to learn to surf in Byron Bay.

As a gentle introduction to Byron Bay surf lessons you have the option of booking a single days tuition, which will be delivered on a group basis – but you will definitely receive the personal attention that you need, and testament to this is our guarantee, that if you don’t manage to experience the thrill of standing up on your board for the first time, well then you can come back for another lesson, completely free of charge! You also have the option of booking 2- and 3-day courses, again as part of a group, where you will discover and learn how to direct your board, all about wave selection and other basic skills that will enhance your enjoyment, or you can opt for the ultimate package our 5-day Byron Bay surf course. This package comprises of 4 group sessions and one private session and will see you progress from beginner to intermediate surfer status, with the skills, knowledge and confidence to take to the waves on your own. Alternatively, you can book any number of private sessions where you will receive the undivided attention of one of our experienced surf teachers, who always ensure that your fun and safety are top of the agenda. Furthermore, we provide all the specialist equipment that is required, including a wet suit – all you need to bring along is your swimming costume, a towel and your sense of adventure!

Whilst Byron Bay is one of the premier spots in Australia for surfing, there are a number of activities for which the area is renowned and at Blackdog we have collaborated with local tour operators to present the opportunity for you to combine surf lessons with whale and dolphin watching, ocean safaris, kayaking, snorkelling and even sky diving, all adding to the excitement of your Byron Bay surf camp, whilst also saving you cash with generous discounts.
